the japanese retailer muji has teamed up with the legendary toy maker lego to create a new series of toys which combine lego’s plastic blocks with paper. the collaboration resulted in four play sets that feature a collection of lego bricks, paper and hole punching tools that allow the user to combine them together. the tools enable users to create animals, characters and a number of other shapes that come with the sets, but they can also be customized with a little imagination and some paper. Brilliant! Can i have one in my stocking please?
Cracking looking bike formed out of Thomas Lommée's project called OpenStructures. An interesting project exploring the possibility of a modular construction model where everyone designs for everyone on the basis of one shared geometrical grid. It initiates a kind of collaborative Meccano to which everybody can contribute parts, components and structures. Optomistic to say the least but a cool bike none-the-less. When you find yourself becoming overwhelmed on the path to simplicity Taking a complicated, frenzied path to get there Stop, consider, and choose the simpler path And take it slowly And easily And lovely
Love these stunning glass sculptures of microbiology by Luke Jerram. They are of some of the world's most deadly viruses. They're a bit reminisant of DALE CHIHULY's work but smaller and much more elegant. The top three are Smallpox, Flu & HIV Virus.
Yesterday was All Saints day and today is All Souls day - the mexican day of the Dead. The imagery used to celebrate this festival is some of the most recognizable and visually exciting of any of the years festivities. Celebrated for over 2000 yrs it makes Hallow'een look like the vapid commercial tat it is. Three cheers for the dead!! Wiki
