‘arbores laetae’ by diller scofidio and renfro

'arbores laetae’ or ‘joyful trees’ is the latest project by new york architects diller scofidio and renfro. the unusual installation project is located in liverpool, england as part of the city’s art biennial. 17 trees were planted in a small parkette, however 3 of the trees slowly rotate on specially designed bases. the liverpool biennial runs from september 20 – november 30.


banpo fountain at seoul design olympiad 2008

what used to be one of the many non-descript bridges crossing thehan river
in the korean capital has now become a major attraction.
banpo bridge has been remodeled into a massive and beautiful fountain that
shoots water down not up. installed on september 9, 380 nozzles on both
sides of the bridg pump out 190 tons of water from the han river per minute.
seoul mayor oh se-hoon, said that within the hangang renaissance project,
this landmark will help to establish seoul as an environment-friendly,
economic and cultural center. it will contribute to attracting more tourists
an improve the quality of life for residents.
